A healthier Ginger Syrup you ask? Certainly!

Here's a recipe for a sans-refined sugar ginger syrup that's perfect for adding a burst of flavor to your zero-proof boissons. This syrup is sweetened with natural ingredients like honey and has the spicy kick of fresh ginger.

Alt Ginger Syrup

You can now use this healthy ginger syrup to add a zesty, sweet and spicy flavor to your mocktails and other beverages. It's a great way to enjoy the benefits of ginger and keeping the sugar content lower. Enjoy!

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup fresh ginger, peeled and sliced into thin rounds

  • A smidge to 1/2 cup honey (you can adjust the amount to your desired sweetness)

  • 1/2 cup water

  • 1 cinnamon stick (optional)

Instructions:

  1. Place the ginger rounds and the cinnamon stick (if using) in a saucepan.

  2. Add the honey and water to the saucepan, and stir to combine.

  3. Heat the mixture over medium heat, stirring occasionally, until it comes to a simmer.

  4. Once it starts simmering, reduce the heat to low, and let it simmer gently for about 10-15 minutes. The ginger should become tender, and the mixture will thicken slightly.

  5. Remove the saucepan from the heat and let the syrup cool to room temperature.

  6. Strain the syrup through a fine-mesh strainer or cheesecloth into a clean glass jar or bottle, discarding the ginger and cinnamon (if used).

  7. Store the ginger syrup in the refrigerator for up to two weeks.

Regular Ginger Syrup

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup fresh ginger, peeled and thinly sliced

  • 1 cup granulated sugar

  • 1 cup water

Instructions:

  1. Place the ginger slices, sugar, and water in a saucepan.

  2. Stir to combine and heat the mixture over medium-high heat.

  3. Bring the mixture to a boil, then reduce the heat to low and let it simmer for about 30 minutes. The syrup should thicken slightly and the ginger should become tender.

  4. Remove the saucepan from the heat and let the syrup cool to room temperature.

  5. Strain the syrup through a fine-mesh strainer or cheesecloth into a clean glass jar or bottle, separating the ginger pieces from the liquid.

  6. Store the ginger syrup in the refrigerator for up to two weeks.

This regular ginger syrup is sweeter and less intense than the healthy ginger syrup provided earlier.

You can adjust the sweetness by adding more or less sugar to suit your taste preferences. Psst: Less sugar is always best. :)
